How LHR Works

Laser hair removal works by delivering controlled light energy into the hair follicle. The pigment within the follicle absorbs the energy as heat which destroys the follicle, reducing the ability for it to produce new hair.

Because hair grows and cycles, and laser is only effective in one phase of that cycle, multiple treatments are required to effectively target follicles in their active growth phase.

A consultation is required prior to treatment. during your visit, we assess skin type, medical history, and treatment goals to determine candidacy for treatment. 

1 / LHR may be a good fit if you:

  • Have dark or coarse hair

  • Are looking for long-term hair reduction rather than temporary removal

  • Experience irritation, ingrown hairs, or folliculitis from shaving or waxing

  • Are able to commit to a series of treatments

  • Have realistic expectations about gradual results and the requirement for periodic maintenance treatments

  • Can avoid sun exposure, tanning, and sunless tanning before and after treatments

2 / LHR may not be appropriate if you:

  • Have very light, blonde, red, gray, or white hair

  • Have very fine hair- even if dark

  • Are currently pregnant 

  • Experiencing wide fluctuations in hormones (peri-menopause, initiating HRT, etc.)

  • Have active infections, wounds, or inflammation in the area to be treated

  • Are unable to avoid sun exposure, tanning, to sunless tanning

  • Use photosensitizing medications or products

  • Expect immediate or permanent results after one session

What to Expect
